See why this Division Midway Alliance after-hours event had a delightfully Irish theme …

Whelan’s Irish Pub, located in the Mill Park neighborhood, is the location of a Division Midway Alliance mixer.

It was relaxation, information, and networking on tap at Whelan’s Irish Pub for outer East Portland area businesspeople, when the Division Midway Alliance (DMA) Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative hosted an evening mixer on May 4.

Whelan’s cook put out a spread of traditional Irish fare for all to enjoy; and libations were flowing for those who chose to partake, while all those who attended became better acquainted, and learned about initiatives in the area.

DMA District Manger Lori Boisen spends a moment with Danny Kaptur of Global Communications and Boost Mobile.

“The ideas to help businesspeople in the area learn about some of the changes are happening along Division Street, and also to introduce them to Whelan’s, this fine new establishment,” asserted DMA District Manger Lori Boisen.

“We’re also talking about the ‘Storefront Improvement Grants’ that we’re just rolling out, where businesses can get up to $10,000 worth of improvements to help fix up the outside appearance of their business for as little as $2,500,” Boisen told East Portland News.

“This is just one of the program underway at the DMA, as we actively work to create a more prosperous area, improve our public image, foster public safety, and improve the lives and vitality of businesses and residents all over outer East Portland,” Boisen concluded.

Portland Bureau of Transportation representative Elizabeth Mahon informs about changes coming to SE Division Street in the near future.

Also, representatives of the Portland Bureau of Transportation were on hand, talking about the significant engineering changes they say will soon make outer SE Division Street safer for all modes of transportation.

And, Boisen reminded that their annual “Festival of Nations” will return to the area on September 17.

Serving herself at the buffet is TriMet Division Transit Project’s Wendy Serrano.
