Very little is known yet about this outer East Portland body – other than that it was found near the railroad tracks along NE Fremont Street …
Officers are called to the Parkrose neighborhood to NE Fremont Street, not far north of the I-84 Freeway, to investigate a dead body found there.

What started as Portland Police Bureau (PPB) North Precinct officers being dispatched to an “Area Check” Sunday morning, August 25, 12:58 a.m. soon turned into a homicide investigation.
Arriving officers were directed to the 10700 block of NE Fremont Street – that’s the best way to describe the location; there are no cross streets between 105th and 112th Avenues – and then into an area of thick brush, between the street and the railroad tracks.
There, officers found what was described as a “deceased person”.
Due to its proximity of the Union Pacific railroad tracks, the rail line was shut down for the PPB Homicide Unit detectives’ investigation.
Detectives and officers make their way through the brush, seeking clues near where the body was found.
“Due to the state of remains, it is unknown if the person found was a man or a woman; the identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death [and identified the body], and after family members have been notified,” is they only official statement made about the results of the investigation, so far.
