Deluxe Mini-golf course opens in East Portland

Just in time for nice summer weather, here’s yet another reason to add historic Oaks Amusement Park to your “stay-cation” destination list …

Visiting from the Bull Mountain area near Tigard are Joe and Aspen Hookie, Beth and Alexa Benz, who are trying out a hole at the new “Oaks Adventure Golf Course” at Oaks Amusement Park.

New this year at historic Oaks Amusement Park is an 18-hole Adventure Golf Course.

It took about three months to build this $400,000 miniature golf course, which overlooks the Willamette River just north of the Sellwood Bridge.

The fully-featured, deluxe course evokes memories of luxurious putting centers in an earlier time – complete with mountains, waterfalls, a river stocked with fish running through it, landscaping, and a multiple holes per green.

Joe Behrman helps his son, Jacob, learn correct putting stance at the new “Oaks Adventure Golf Course”.

“It’s easy enough for the youngest kids – and still challenging for the oldest duffer,” said Oaks spokesperson Mary Beth Coffey. It’s open during the amusement park’s regular hours, and playing there costs $6 per person $3 kids 5 and under.

After you’ve worked up an appetite from playing your 18-hole game, snacks – like a jumbo order of Curlie Fries – are still just $2 bucks. “Because we’re operated by a non-profit organization, we provide family-friendly fun and food for a very low price,” Coffey noted.

Oaks Amusement Park is located at 1 SE Spokane Street in the Sellwood neighborhood. For more information, call (503) 233-5777 or see their website: http://oakspark.com.
