In the wee hours of April 16, quite likely the Ford F150 pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Deontae Martin Eugene Farlow was then the only vehicle driving on SE Holgate Boulevard, a couple of blocks east of the I-205 Freeway.
Inexplicably, Farlow’s truck left the driving lanes and veered into a wooden utility pole head-on, just before 3:30 a.m. a.m. that morning – which summoned Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers to the area.

“Officers located a deceased adult male at the scene, but no other injuries were reported,” said PPB Public Information Officer Sergeant Brad Yakots about the crash.
The PPB Traffic Division Major Crash Team arrived and began to investigate.
SE Holgate Boulevard was closed for hours, while Crash Team members took measurements and otherwise documented this, their 24th activation and their 16th fatality investigation this year, revealed Yakots.
