In the drenching rainstorm on January 9, a man rolled up on a bicycle to the K.S. Food Mart, at 15231 SE Division Street. It was 9:51 a.m.

Once inside, he made it clear to the clerk that he wasn’t there to buy sundries, but rather to rob the store.

Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers arrived quickly, but the suspect was already gone by the time they arrived.

“Officers learned that the suspect displayed a handgun while demanding money; after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the location without incident,” reported PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Burley.

“The suspect was described as a white male in his 40’s, 6’1″ tall, 190 to 200 pounds, wearing a leather jacket and grey pants, armed with a handgun – and he was seen leaving on a silver mountain bike with straight handlebars,” Burley said.

Officers searched the area but did not find anyone matching the suspect’s description.
