Arson! Investigation of torched Portland Police training cars now underway

In the Wilkes neighborhood, vandals broke into the fenced and secured area of this facility — the Portland Police Bureau Training Division complex – and set a number of training vehicles ablaze.

In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, May 2nd, a fire triggered alarms in the outside storage area of the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) Training Division complex, located at 14912 NE Airport Way.

PPB North Precinct officers were dispatched to the training grounds at 1:55a.m. – as were Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) crews.

Arriving officers found 15 PPB vehicles, in a fenced training area, on fire, and they opened the gates for arriving firefighters. PF&R crews extinguished the fires, and reported back to their dispatchers that the nearby building was undamaged.

The Portland Fire Investigations Unit responded to the scene to investigate what was suspected be arson vehicle fires. No injuries were reported.
