Cops are frequently called to break up bar fights. But on August 13, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct District Officers didn’t find hot-tempered patrons – they found a badly injured man, in the parking lot of Mama Son’s Tavern, at 12510 SE Division Street.
“When officers arrived they located the victim, 59-year-old Steven Glenn Young, suffering from critical injuries,” revealed PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.
In the parking lot of Mama Son’s Tavern on SE Division Street, investigators try to unravel the facts behind a victim’s critical injuries.
“Young was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment, but ultimately died from his injuries on September 4,” Simpson later added.
Investigators determined that Young was punched by the suspect, Simpson said, then fell to the ground, hitting his head.

“On September 13, Homicide Detectives arrested 28-year-old Jennifer Sky Franklin, and on September 14 at 4:25 p.m. arrested Bary Jerome Franklin, in connection with Young’s death,” Simpson said.
“Bary Franklin was charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Criminally Negligent Homicide. Jennifer Franklin was charged with Hindering Prosecution, and Tampering With Physical Evidence,” explained Simpson.
Mr. Franklin’s bail was set at $255,000, and he remains in custody at Multnomah County Inverness Jail in outer East Portland. Ms. Franklin was released from custody; details of her release are unknown.
