A patron arriving at the door of the All Stop Pipes & Discount Tobacco shop, at 14447 SE Division Street, looked bewildered to find the establishment closed early on the evening of October 25.

The six Portland Police Bureau (PPB) units at the scene might have been a tip off as to why the shop was shuttered so early that evening. Officers had been dispatched on a “Robbery-with Weapon” call to that location at 7:31 p.m.

Looking for witnesses, officers canvass the area in the vicinity of the robbed store.

“I was waiting for a bus, and I noticed a guy running out of the store kinda fast; he headed toward the KFC store (directly east, across SE 144th Avenue) and it looked kind strange to me,” Shanna Burke told East Portland News.

While a PPB officer was in the store speaking with an employee, others fanned out in the area, searching for the suspect.

Inside the store, an officer obtains information from a worker.

“I can confirm this was a robbery where the suspect displayed a gun,” said PPB Public Information Officer Sergeant Kevin Allen. “No injuries were reported; this investigation is continuing.”
