A man, armed with what the clerk said was a “military-style-looking” rifle, strolled into Maddy’s lotto-deli located at 11252 NE Sandy Boulevard at 2:48 a.m. on November 7.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) North Precinct officers responded, and learned that the suspect had obtained an amount of cash, after which he left and got into a silver vehicle.
Officers look for a suspect who they say ditched the gun he used in the robbery.
“Officers discovered evidence that the suspect fired a shot during the robbery,” revealed PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson. “The suspect’s silver vehicle and was last seen being driven eastbound on Sandy Boulevard after the robbery.”
Officers started looking for the suspect – described as a white male, 5’10” to 6’00” tall, stocky build, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.
“At 3:12 a.m., a resident in the area of NE 148th Avenue and Stanton Court called 9-1-1 to report that two people just parked a silver two-door car in the neighborhood and ran away westbound towards NE Rose Parkway,” Simpson later reported. “The caller reported that two people were wearing hooded sweatshirts, and were using flashlights.”
Into the night, officers continue their search for the armed robber.
Officers searching by ground and air did not locate the suspects in the robbery, but, Simpson said, “During the neighborhood search, officers did locate and seize a military-style rifle, similar to the one used in the robbery.”
Robbery detectives are continuing the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Robbery detectives at 503-823-0405.
