A masked gunman held up the Airport Columbia State Bank branch, located is an outer East Portland strip mall at 5083 NE 122nd Avenue, on the morning of June 26.

East Portland News canvassed other businesses in the area after the robbery. None of their employees said they saw or heard anything unusual at the time the robbery occurred – 9:27 a.m. that morning.

This robber waves his gun, making sure everyone in the bank knows he’s there to make an unauthorized withdrawal.

“Bank employees told North Precinct officers that the suspect entered the bank armed with a handgun, and demanded money,” revealed Portland Police Bureau (PPB) Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.

After obtaining a burlap bag filled with cash, the suspect fled the bank in an unknown direction.

After having a teller fill his bag with cash, the armed bandit flees the bank.

While FBI agents and detectives conducted an investigation, some PPB officers combed the mid-County, primarily-industrial area, but came up empty-handed.
“The suspect is described as a white male in his late-20s, 6’2″ tall, medium build, wearing a gray and black coat, black stocking cap, black bandana over his face, black pants, armed with a handgun,” Simpson recounted.

The bank branch remains closed for the day, after being robbed.
