A disturbance at the Lux Hookah Lounge at 12436 SE Powell Boulevard brought Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers out to investigate, at 2:34 a.m. on May 26.

“Officers were responding to a report of two males fighting, with one threatening to go get a gun,” a PPB official said. “But officers ultimately determined no one had a firearm.”

The large callout filled this two-lane section of SE Powell Boulevard with police vehicles – their overhead emergency lights brilliant illuminating the area.

A paramedic checks the officer struck by the passing car, before he was taken to the hospital, treated, and released.

As an officer, returning to his car, saw a Honda Accord traveling westbound on Powell Boulevard right toward him, he tucked up against his car trying to avoid being hit – but he was struck by the rear view mirror of the passing vehicle, the Bureau’s spokesperson said.

The Honda’s driver didn’t stop, until officers pulled him over near SE 122nd Avenue.

Later in the morning of his arrest, a Multnomah County District Court judge set Zamora free, without assigning bail. The official reason: “Released on Own Recognizance”.
