Sometimes events put on by groups don’t attract attention, and just fizzle out.

But the inaugural APANO Small Business Resource Fair last year – presented by APANO Communities United Fund (formerly called Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon) – at their headquarters, was very successful.

So successful it was, at attracting attendees and organizations, that more space was needed for the next one, on March 5 – and so this year’s fair moved north, across SE Division Street, to the Portland Community College Southeast Campus (PCC-SC).

This year’s afternoon Resource Fair filled the entire Commons space in PCC Southeast Center’s Mt. Tabor Hall with tablers and participants.

Organizer Grace Pae Henricks, and Jade District Manager Alisa Kajikawa, welcome this year’s guests.

“Indeed, we’re hosting another Small Business Resource Fair for entrepreneurs and business owners,” APANO Small Business Advisor Program Manager Grace Pae Henricks told East Portland News.

“This fair is for our community, here in the Jade [Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative] District. However, while we serve the Jade District, this fair today is for everyone within our area – people are coming to attend this fair from far and wide!”

Take a video tour of this successful business fair:

From the moment the fair began, business people filled the hall, speaking with representatives from governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, and business service providers.

Dozens of organizations’ representatives provide valuable business information at this year’s fair.

“We have 30 organizations as resources, here today,” Henricks pointed out.

The best thing to come out of the fair, Henricks reflected, is that entrepreneurs are leaving with valuable information to support them and the growth of their businesses, as well as having had the experience of networking with other providers.
